Drake Highly Anticipated Certified Lover Boy Drops Soon!

Drake Highly Anticipated Certified Lover Boy Drops Soon! – Drake is no stranger to the #1 debut. Three times before this, Drake has landed songs at the top of the Hot 100 in his first week; with 2018’s “God’s Plan,” 2018’s “Nice For What,” and 2020’s “Toosie Slide.” But never before has he launched three songs that directly hit the top three spots on the chart. Until now… Nobody had.

Drake’s making Billboard chart history, again, as the first artist ever to have three singles debut simultaneously in the No.1, 2, and 3 spots on the Hot 100.

All three songs, “What’s Next,” “Wants And Needs” with Lil Baby, and “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” with Rick Ross appear on his new EP, Scary Hours 2.

The Canadian rapper has plenty to celebrate, scoring his highest positions to-date on the Hot 100, with these releases.

The sequel to Drake’s 2018 EP “Scary Hours,” album offers a sneak peek into the rapper’s life during his brief hiatus.

Ending a long streak of dropping chart-topping singles, this EP consists of three distinct yet coherent songs. “What’s Next,” “Wants and Needs” featuring Lil Baby, and “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” featuring Rick Ross. In between the complex beats and various flows, the bar-heavy verses dominate. Repetitive looped tracks & consistent 808s fade into the background, and the spotlight falls all on Drake. No gimmicks here. Just hip hop heavy bars and flows.

Drake’s voice isn’t very unique or defined but he still manages to be an outstanding rapper by his recognizable flow switching.

“Wants and needs“ displays this in Drake’s first verse. Quick paced with a regressing slow tempo for the hook. Drakes fusions of melodies, tempo changes and spitfire verses leaves his stylistic abilities ultimately unmatched.

In “what’s next” Drake attempts to bring us up to speed and airs what seems to be some of his frustrations. “Man, how many times have I shown improvement?” he questions, discontent with the way his fame has outgrown his talent. He may be addressing the press who can be ruthless at times “want [his] life exposеd”, so he casually lets them know he’s done some resting, stretching, and sexing.

Other than that Drake politely tells people to mind their business, when it comes to his business. By actually revealing nothing, instead hitting his audience with the ambiguous “we’ll see what’s ’bout to happen next…. Okay?!” And we respect it

Then next we have, “Wants and Needs” showing Drake’s emotional growth. It’s not that he’s abandoned his bachelor lifestyle, but that he’s more self-aware about love being a want rather than a need. Although, like Lil Baby raps about in his verse, “YOLO” is still very much the motto; the lifestyle is not everything to Drizzy anymore. In place of that careless youthful ambition, thoughts like “Sins… M’s… Friends… Love” are more pressing on Drake’s mind as he reflects on how his achievements “look bigger through my son’s eyes.”

On the Lemon Pepper Freestyle. Drake goes through the ins-and-outs of being at the top of his game and the pressures that go with being an international mogul. He gives a sense of luxury that comes from “dockin’ jet skis in the Florida Keys” with Weezy. The serene vibe and  sample in the back give the track a romantic tint. Easing the audience through these abstract aesthetics.

In anticipation of his next album Certified Lover Boy which drops soon. “Scary Hours 2” may have successfully attempted to redirect the public’s attention from The Champagne Papi’s mogul lifestyle to the more prominent values the rapper has set his sights on. Since the theme of this new album seems to be fame, family and love.
