Ironheart: Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes set to direct

Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes are tapped as directors for Marvel’s Ironheart episodes. Ryan Coogler along with some of his crew from his production banner Proximity Media have come on board as producers.

Last year, Marvel Studios hired screenwriter and playwright, Chinaka Hodge as head writer for this six-part series. Ironheart was expected to begin shooting in Atlanta, GA, in June.

Who are the directors of the episodes?

Barnes is a heavily sought-after television director. Who rose through as a DGA trainee back in the mid-late 90s. Making her first directing assignment on an episode of the sitcom Eve starring recording artist and actress of the same name as a fashion designer. In search of love whilst in an on-and-off relationship.

She directed episodes of Legacies, Mythic Quest, and Blindspotting and is helming the upcoming fourth and final season of Atlanta.

Bailey, in all intents and purposes, is a quadruple threat in the small screen and entertainment world. Rising to prominence with the honest, breakthrough, self-produced web series; You’re So Talented and was co-creator of the Emmy-nominated Brown Girls.

Who is the creative team behind Ironheart?

Aside from Hodge who is the head writer and executive producer of the miniseries, Ryan Coogler who leads Proximity Media is co-developing Ironheart with his wife Zinzi Coogler, Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige will executive produce as normal alongside co-president Louis D’Esposito and Victoria Alonso.

Ironheart stars Dominique Thorne, Anthony Ramos, Lyric Ross, and Harper Anthony. Chanika Hodge is serving as showrunner while Eve Ewing is writing the series with Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes directing.

Hodge, Ryan Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, and Zoie Nagelhout are all credited as executive producers on Ironheart.

Marvel Studios in association with Proximity Media are producing the series. It is expected to be released onDisney+ sometime next year in 2023.
