The photos of Sohia Vergara playing the infamous drug lady Griselda Blanco was released, sending the internet into a tizzy. Gone were the figure-hugging dresses and glamorous makeup, Vergara looked almost completely unrecognisable as the Colombiana cocaine Queen Pin. She looked grisled, gritty and people were excited to see the usually-comedic actress take such an artistic leap.

Sofia Vergara is set to take on the Cocaine Godmother.

Netflix’s first-look photo at upcoming miniseries Griselda. The actress also executive produces alongside the creative team behind Narcos. Griselda follows the woman who became one of the world’s wealthiest drug traffickers, known for her ruthless and violent ways. 

Vergara has been developing Griselda for the past eight years with executive producer Luis Balaguer. It was pitched to the Latin World Entertainment before brought to Netflix.

EP Andrés Baiz directs all six episodes, while Ingrid Escajeda and Doug Miro serve as co-showrunners. Miro, Baiz, Eric Newman, and Carlo Bernard — who all worked on Narcos — also EP.

She killed her second husband, Alberto Bravo, after confronting him for allegedly stealing millions of dollars from her. The two got into a gun fight, and Blanco emerged as the winner

Blanco married her third husband, Darío Sepúlveda, in Miami in the ’80s. She paid to have Sepúlveda assassinated after they couldn’t agree over child custody.
