Questlove & Black Thought Producing Disney Animated Series ‘Rise Up, Sing Out’
Disney is prepping new animated music series ‘Rise Up, Sing Out’ executive produced by Questlove and Black Thought of The Roots.
Disney is ready to empower young multi-cultural viewers with new animated short-form series Rise Up, Sing Out. Executive produced by Questlove and Black Thought of The Roots. The eight-episode musical series will celebrate diversity providing messages of optimism and self-love.
Quest Love and Black thought are both executive producers & composers for Rise Up, Sing Out. Also depicted in the series as animated characters.
The show comes after parents asked platform Disney Junior for entertainment content geared towards children about diversity and inclusion. Apparently, it paid off! Viewers can look forward to episodes about Black hair and the mispronounced or stigmatization of multi-cultural names.
“The Rise Up, Sing Out shorts touch on real-world issues.Especially for young Black kids, things that just weren’t talked about when we were growing up. The beautiful thing about these shorts is that not only are they going to provide young kids the proper language to talk to their friends and family about some of the things that might be bothering them, but it’s also going to give parents the tools on how to respond.” Questlove and Black Thought said in a prepared statement.
Latoya Raveneau, director of upcoming series The Proud Family. Louder and Prouder, is also an executive produced of Rise Up, Sing Out.
Walt Disney Records will release the music from Rise Up, Sing Out on Friday, Feb. 4.
This sounds super dope. I can hear the children’s soundtrack already.
