Raptors 2021 Trade

Raptors 2021 Trade – After last nights big win against Denver Nuggets. A much needed win as they had lost the past 8 games consecutively. A losing streak that they haven’t encountered since 2011-12 season.  So it was nice to see the Raptors get back in their groove. As they knew rumours of possible trades could take place. The fate of norm wearing a Raptor jersey came to an end as of roughly 1pm this afternoon. 

The Toronto Raptors have traded Norm Powell to the Portland Trail Blazers. With Gary Trent JR. & Rodney Hood coming over. 

Powell, 27, is having a breakout season, which hurts the Raptors fans just a bit, averaging career highs in points (19.6), 3-pointers (2.8 per game) and 3-point percentage (43.9%).

He has a player option for next season at $11.6 million.

Trent, 22, is averaging a career-high 15 points per game in his third season and is shooting nearly 40% from 3-point range. He is a restricted free agent after this season.

Hood, 28, is averaging a career-low 4.7 points per game but is getting fewer than 20 minutes per contest. His contract is non-guaranteed next season.

The Blazers are currently sixth in the West, a half-game behind Denver. The Raptors are sadly, 11th in the East and 1-9 in their past 10 games.

Another player who ended up on the chopping blocks was Raptors trading guard Matt Thomas to the Utah Jazz for a future second-round pick, sources tell ESPN. 

All these changes.. an advancement or set back? I’d like to think Masai Ujiri has always looked out for the betterment of the team and strategically has always done what’s best for the Raptors franchise. Hopefully we can collectively keep faith in him.
