Nearly two months after unveiling the first teaser for the new chapter. The official Atlanta Twitter account, revealed that season 3 has been set to premiere on March 24. The new premiere date comes after the show went on a four-year hiatus.
Development on Atlanta season 3 has seen a much rockier path than that of its predecessors; with filming suffering multiple delays. First from scheduling conflicts in Glover’s increasingly busy schedule with his Childish Gambino tours & roles in Solo: A Star Wars Story and The Lion King. Despite this delay, FX still went on to renew the show for season 4 with plans to film back-to-back. Postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and would finally kick off in early 2021 in Europe. With filming on season 3, having wrapped this past August, the timing certainly lines up for Atlanta to return in its March 2022 release date.
With Atlanta season 3 officially coming after a four-year hiatus. It will be interesting to see whether the wait results in a large viewership boost for FX; or see it struggle to recapture the same level of popularity. The cable network hasn’t seen huge ratings in the past few years, though the first two seasons of Atlanta proved to be a major hit alongside FX’s long-running titles; It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and American Horror Story. Only time will tell how the new season performs when Atlanta season 3 premieres on FX and Hulu on March 24.
Available for streaming on Hulu.
The 10-episode third season marks the first time Atlanta will be available for in-season streaming on Hulu. The first two seasons, which aired before FX became part of Disney & before Disney took control of Hulu; but it can still be streamed on Hulu
